I'm a Northern California-based photographer, and the honest truth is I'm pretty new to all of this. I picked up my first camera about a year ago because my husband John kept handing me his, and somewhere between the first roll and the hundredth, it stopped being a hobby and started feeling like the thing I'd been looking for. My work lives somewhere between editorial and documentary — a little dreamy, never staged. The best moments are almost always the ones nobody asked for.

I'm a wife to John, a daughter, a sister, and a friend who is always the one taking the candids at the dinner table. I'm also a person of faith, and that quietly shapes a lot of how I move through the world — gently, hopefully, and with the belief that small moments matter more than big ones.

I built this little site as part of a web design class, but it also doubles as the cleanest place to send anyone who wants to see what I actually make. Poke around as long as you'd like. Then say hi if anything resonates.

How I Work

Honest before perfect.

I'd rather wait three minutes for real light than fake a sunset with a flash. I'd rather catch you mid-laugh than ask you to fake one. Photographs that try too hard to be beautiful usually age badly — the ones that age well are the ones that were honest first and pretty second.

Sessions with me are pretty conversational. I'll give direction when it helps, but I mostly want you to feel like yourself. A lot of my couples say it ended up feeling less like a photoshoot and more like a long walk with a friend who happened to bring a camera.

Editing is the same. Skin stays skin. Color stays close to the color of the day. The goal is a gallery you'll still love in thirty years, not one that's been chasing a trend.

Long Coffees

Iced vanilla lattes specifically, the kind that take you two hours to drink because you keep getting distracted by the conversation. My favorite first meetings with new clients happen over one.

Slow Mornings

Soft light through curtains, a book I keep meaning to finish, and a dog at my feet. Most of my visual language comes directly from these mornings — muted color, low contrast, and a lot of breathing room.

Telling Stories

Whether it's a single frame or a twenty-minute short film, I love stories. The best part of this job is being trusted with someone else's, even just for an afternoon.

The Studio

Westfall Visuals.

I run a small creative studio in Northern California with my husband John, where I take the lead on photography and we collaborate on short films and brand work together. We named it Westfall Visuals because we wanted it to feel like a family practice, not a personal brand — and because we'd already used all the other obvious names.

The studio takes on a deliberately small slate of weddings, portrait sessions, and short films each year. I'd rather make a few things well than a lot of things quickly. If that sounds like the kind of person you want behind the camera for your story, I'd love to talk.
